Moonstone Nail Polish Swatch :: Key Lime Pie from What’s In-Die Box February 2014

*** Spoiler Alert ***
February’s What’s In-Die Box was themed “Bakery Delights”, and over the coming days I will be sharing full manicures of each of the polishes that were in the box.  As usual, I have popped up a cheeky spoiler alert and a teaser black and white photo for those of you who haven’t received your box, and are still trying desperately to keep its contents a surprise.
Moonstone Nail Polish – Key Lime Pie
Key Lime Pie is the last polish left to share with you from February’s What’s In-Die Box.  This glitter topper from Moonstone Nail Polish captures the citrus feeling of a Key Lime Pie perfectly with its lime green, bright yellow, sheer pastel yellow and frosty sheer white hex and circle glitters in a variety of sizes, with a pinch of holo glitter dust.  Moonstone really packed in the glitters, so there was no fishing necessary, and the glitters dried fairly flat and only needed one layer of topcoat.  The up-close nail shot below is Key Lime Pie over MUD Meet Minty, which shows off the different type of glitters better.
I really wanted to amp up the key lime pie feel in this swatch, so my base is a gradient of Sinful Colors Snow Me White, Maybelleine Urban Lemon and Sinful Colors Innocent.  I then applied one normal, and one ultra thin coat of Key Lime Pie and topped with HK Girl topcoat.  It looks really summery and fresh.

The only thing that would make this more Key Lime-like would be lime scent!

What’s In-Die Box February 2014 :: A monthly box of polish goodness

*** Spoiler Alert ***

If you haven’t received your WITB yet, and want the contents to remain a surprise, you may want to avert your eyes now!
February’s theme for What’s In-Die Box was Bakery Delights.  I was excited to see how the ladies took on this theme, and in fact the cupcake in the spoiler was bought because of the theme!  The brands participating this month were Peita’s Polish, Glam Polish, Lilypad Lacquer, Moonstone Polish and Pretty Pots Polish.

Time for the Bottle Piccies!!

What did our brands have in store for us this month?  As usual, I will try to describe the polishes as best I can.  I applied two coats of polish without base colour so you can see the polish as is.

Key Lime Pie – Moonstone Polish
A glitter topper, Key Lime Pie has a generous serving of lime green, yellow and a smattering of holo glitter.  I applied two coats of Key Lime Pie over MUD Meet Minty, although I’d love to see this over a cream or green/cream gradient.
Fairy Cakes – Glam Polish
Fairy Cakes is a white crelly based polish with a glitter mix of pale pink, fuchsia and periwinkle blue with a touch of holo.  The formula was great, with superb coverage both in colour and glitter saturation.
Mintberry Macaron – Pretty Pots Polish
Mintberry Macaron was an absolute buttery dream to apply.  A gorgeous mint green chock full of mid-blue, purple and yellow/gold glitters, pink squares and turquoise green stars.  There was also a little baggie of extra star glitters for nail art purposes.
Blackberry Beauty – Lilypad Lacquer
Lilypad Lacquer’s offering this month is a deliciously deep purple shimmery flakey with a smattering of holo. For all I know, Nicole has snuck in a little shift in there as well, but it was too hard to tell on one nail, and i can’t wait to do a full mani and get this Beauty into sunlight.  It applied smoothly, and was a lovely rich dark grape.
Blueberry Bonanza – Peita’s Polish

Blueberry Bonanza gave me some serious nostalgia as it reminds me of Blueberry Muffin from Strawberry Shortcake, with it’s blue and blurple hexes cruising around in a soup of pastel blue base, dark blue glitter and a little bit of silver shimmer dust.  The formula was great, and gave a healthy dose of glitters without fishing.
It wouldn’t be my asap review without my 5 finger salute!  Stay tuned over the next few days, when I will be sharing full manis of each polish.

L-R Glam Polish, Pretty Pots, Peita’s Polish, Moonstone and Lilypad Lacquer

This month’s box, and Blueberry Bonanza in particular, reminded me of a “book on tape” I had as a kiddiliwink, with Strawberry Shortcake singing a rather repetitive, ear bleed inducing rendition of “If I knew you were coming I’d have baked a cake”.  This song has been going through my head while I was taking photos and writing this post.  When will the hurting stop.  Stupid 80s memories!!

What’s Coming Next Month?

Next month’s theme is Superheroes and Villans!!  I can’t wait to see the clues for this one.  The brands participating next month are Peita’s Polish, Glam Polish, Lilypad Lacquer, Arcane Lacquer and Sayuri Nail Lacquer.  As usual, you can pre-order your March What’s In-Die Box from Peita’s Polish.

Happy Polishing!!
